The performance of your HVAC system is determined to a greater extent by the condition of your condenser and evaporator coils. Because these coils are continuously involved in the transfer of heat from one compartment to another, they tend to get dirty with time. Dirty coils have a direct impact on the efficiency of your HVAC system. They can increase the energy consumed by your ac unit, cause breakdowns in ac operations and increase the wear and tear on your equipments.
Miami Duct Cleaning has developed comprehensive air coil cleaning solutions to ensure that your ac units perform in the most efficient manner. Our professionals understand the working mechanism of every brand of HVAC unit because we have special partnership with equipment manufacturers.
The Evaporator and Condenser Coils
The evaporator coil is usually located within the house, somewhere inside the ductwork or downstream from the furnace. The condenser coil on the other hand is mostly located outside the building but connected to the evaporator coil through a pair of metal tubes. These metal tubes are called refrigerant lines.
When in operation, the warm air from inside the house is usually blown through the evaporator coil thereby transferring heat to the refrigerant inside the coil. The heated refrigerant is thereafter pumped to the condenser coil outside where the heat it bears is transferred to the outside air. This is a continuous process.
Why You Should Clean Your Coils
The efficiency of your HVAC system is primarily determined by the cleanliness of your coils. When the evaporator coil inside your home is clean, it picks up the warm air efficiently and transfers it to the condenser coil. The condenser coil also needs to be clean so that it can disperse the heat efficiently into the external environment.
If any of these coils become dirty or are partially blocked by debris, dust or mildew their efficiency drops. This means that the systems will have to run longer so as to achieve the desired cooling effect within your house. This in turn becomes costly because of the increased power consumption and the need for regular repairs. Many manufacturers of evaporator and condenser coils require that they be cleaned at least once per year.
Types of Coil Cleaning
At Miami Duct Cleaning, we offer two kinds of coil cleaning services; wet cleaning and dry cleaning. According to NADCA, the dry cleaning is called type 1 while the wet cleaning is called the type 2. We conduct type 2 cleaning when your coils become so dirty that type 1 cleaning cannot sufficiently restore the coils to acceptable efficiency. Type 1 cleaning on the other hand is carried out by our technicians as part of your routine air duct cleaning.
In addition to coil cleaning, we also take time to advice our clients on how well to take care of their ac units so as to prevent dirt and dust from clogging their coils. In this way, they do not have to incur additional costs in repairs which could have been avoided.
